Last weekend, 92 CR’s from across the state (and even 5 from the Nevada College Republicans) came to San Diego for our 2nd Annual Get Out the Vote Weekend. Last year, we had our sights set on ensuring that Abel Maldonado was elected to State Senate. This year, we focused our efforts on the hottest spot of the Governor's November 8th Special Election – San Diego.
In addition to the statewide ballot measures, San Diego has a Mayoral special election and 2 council elections. Last weekend, we walked over 11,000 households for the Governor, Jerry Sanders for Mayor and Kevin Faulconer for Council in District 8. We walked every single Republican household in the district. We also held a Rally for the Governor which was a huge success! We earned media on the local Fox affiliate, local radio stations, and in the two local newspapers. For additional commentary on the weekend, please see Duane Dichiara’s remarks on the Flash Report: http://www.flashreport.org/blog0a.php?postID=2005110115170115&post_offsetP=0&authID=2005091915460320 It took a lot of peoples' hard work to make this weekend successful. Thank you to all of you who came down, helped get people down here and otherwise helped plan the weekend. The Faulconer campaign staff was extremely helpful with the logistical end of the walk; most of them are or were CR’s. We would also like to thank our main sponsors: The Fairbanks Ranch Republican Women Federated for underwriting your travel expenses, some meals, materials, campaign t-shirts and other incidentals. Town and Country Hotel for the wonderful rooms Sheraton on Shelter Island for the boxed lunches Assemblyman Mark Wyland for paying for half of the Saturday dinner reception Coronado Communications Generation NeXt
In addition, CR’s from all over the state walked precincts this weekend in their local areas, continuing to make a difference throughout the state. |
