Get Out The Vote/March 2007: San Jose, CA PDF Print E-mail

Future San Jose Councilwoman Hon Lien CCR has made a habit of helping Republicans win elections lately. From Monterey for Abel Maldonado in 2004, to San Diego for Kevin Faulconer in 2005, to the unprescedented dual-site effort in San Diego and Palm Springs for Shirley Horton and Bonnie Garcia in this past election, CCR's Get Out The Vote program has been a strong indicator of our versatility on the ground.

Next month, we get another chance to prove ourselves.

San Jose is the third largest city in California, and the tenth-largest in the US. This past November, Republicans broke a long-standing Democrat monopoly on the San Jose City Council by electing Councilman Pete Constant.

Circumstance now allows us to build upon that success by getting another Republican elected. With the election of Chuck Reed to the office of Mayor of San Jose, his former Council seat now sits open, and Republicans have the best woman for the job in Hon Lien. A first-generation immigrant from Vietnam and extremely successful businesswoman, Hon has the background and drive necessary to be a success and to help Republicans take back San Jose. Hon is an incredible candidate and is picking up endorsements left and right, even from some prominent Democrats who want to see and end to Big Labor's stranglehold on the San Jose Council.

CCR will run a Get Out The Vote effort for Hon on the weekend of March 2nd-4th. Hotel Rooms will be provided for volunteers, and College Republicans chapters sending volunteers are eligible for Travel Stipends in the way of gas reimbursements. And as always, CCR still follows our motto of "Work Hard - Play Hard," so get ready to have some fun after our work on the ground is done.

If you'd like more information or would like to volunteer, please contact Bay Area Vice-Chairman Kelly Hayes at .
