On Saturday, January 10th, the California College Republicans will hold the first of five campaign schools in targeted legislative districts statewide, signaling an unprecedented and aggressive effort by young people to make a difference on the grassroots level.
DAVIS, CA – On Saturday, January 10th, the California College Republicans will hold the first of five campaign schools in targeted legislative districts statewide, signaling an unprecedented and aggressive effort by young people to make a difference on the grassroots level. The College Republican Activist Training programs will take place in 5 legislative districts viewed as “very competitive” by state leaders: January 10 Davis, CA SD-5 Gary Podesto (R), challenger January 24 Palo Alto, CA AD-15 Guy Houston (R), incumbent January 24 San Diego, CA AD-78 Shirley Horton (R), incumbent January 25 Long Beach, CA AD-54 Steve Kuykendall (R), open-seat January 31 Fresno, CA AD-30 TBD vs. Nicole Parra (D), incumbent “This is an aggressive effort to recruit, train, and activate college students in grassroots Republican politics,” said CCR Chairman Michael Davidson. “And it’s also the best way for young people to get involved in the political process and help the Republican Party win elections statewide.” At each student-run program, attendees will learn about the specifics of their targeted race, why it’s important, and how they can make a difference with activities such as voter registration, absentee voting, and get-out-the-vote efforts. In most cases, the local Republican candidate will join the students for lunch. Pizza and soda will be served.
