CNN Uses Fake “College Republican” to Slam McCain Story bashing McCain relies on planted quotes
Los Angeles, CA – on Thursday morning, CNN
ran a story about young voters and the presidential election. The
premise of the story is that young Republicans say there is an
“enthusiasm gap between them and their candidate.” The only problem is
that CNN relies on quotes from a fake College Republican.
Eric
Pearlmutter, a student at the University of Southern California, was
shown saying, “We try to get people out to our College Republican
meetings but we can’t seem to get the same amount of support.”
Ben Meyers, the President of the USC
College Republican, had different story. “I have never met Eric
Pearlmutter. I have never seen him at a College Republican meeting. He
is not on our membership roster. I don’t know why someone would think
he has speaks for us. As far as I know, he could be a Democrat.”
Meyers
says the College Republican weekly meetings regularly draw 30 or 40
attendees, far more than the rival College Democrats club.
“I’m
not saying that McCain is going to win big among youth voters, but to
claim that his support is weak among young Republicans is just pure
liberal media propaganda,” said Meyers. “Real College Republicans are
fired up for McCain. He’s our kind of Republican… a Maverick.”
“Last
week when Cindy McCain visited San Diego, 20 College Republicans drove
hours on a moments notice just for the chance to meet her,” said
Michael Antonopoulos, the California Chairman of Students for McCain.
“That’s what I call enthusiasm.”

The California College Republicans are organizing a major Get Out the Vote in San Diego! The election is June 3rd and our big push is the final 5 days (Friday, May 30th to Tuesday, June 3rd)!
This is a major opportunity for you and your fellow College Republicans to make a huge impact on a major high-profile grassroots campaign. Your gas will be reimbursed, hotel rooms will be paid for, and food will be provided.
We will be getting out the vote for the entire slate of the Republican Party's endorsed candidates in one of San Diego's most hotly contested city council districts. This election will determine the make-up of the San Diego city government for years to come. It will be a lot of hard work but I guarantee that you will also have a lot of fun -- plus all of your expenses will be covered!
Although the big push is those final five days, The San Diego County Republican Party is also hiring for campaign staff positions. This is the perfect opportunity for anyone who is done with school to join a political campaign for the last few weeks of the election!
Please call or email me if you have any questions, need more specific details, or would like to participate. I am looking forward to seeing you in San Diego!
Less than a month from now College Republicans from across the state will be gathering in San Diego for the 2008 California College Republican Convention. This year's convention, at the beautiful Town and Country Hotel in San Diego, is packed with amazing speakers and social events. For more information check out the official convention website, ccrconvention.com. Be sure to register for convention and also reserve a room as soon as possible to ensure you take advantage of the group rate! If you have any questions email or call Matthew Dobler at

It is late 2007. You are a young conservative college student or recent graduate.
Many of your liberal friends have secured or are looking for positions in local, state or federal government. They see the public sector as a fulfilling potential career opportunity and a way to change the world.
Meanwhile, your conservative and libertarian friends are flooding résumés to dynamic corporations. Some are devising ways to garner capital sufficient to start their own businesses. Government employment is a last resort – if that – even for members of the local College Republicans chapter.
Like your conservative friends, you believe passionately in limited government, low taxes, private property rights, free-market capitalism, justice, and equality under the law. You believe that “the government is best that governs least.”
So why in the world should you consider working in the California State Legislature by participating in either the Senate Fellows Program or the Jesse M. Unruh Assembly Fellowship Program?
